Truss systems was incorporated in August 1988, but did not become operational until April 1990. During that time frame, the principal owners, Richard Brown and Jim Finkenhoefer, both worked for Williams Brothers Lumber Company in Atlanta. In December 1989, the management of Williams Brothers asked Richard (at that time, the General Manager of the Truss Plant) if he was interested in acquiring the truss operation from Williams Brothers. An affirmative action led to the relocation and start-up of Truss Systems in April 1990, in the old modular home plant building on Hwy 81 between Walnut Grove and Loganville. As we grew in size, we needed to acquire land and a building to house our operation. In March 1996, we moved into our current facility, 3 ½ miles South of our previous location. The facility, which has grown to 30,000 square feet, is located on the back half of about 12 acres. Since April 1990, when we opened our doors, our business has continued to grow. Our sales and profitability have combined to make us one of the leading wood truss manufacturers in Georgia and the Southeast. Since 1996, when we moved into our new plant, our sales have increased each year by 25% over the previous years sales. During 2001, our sales approached $10 million. The Principals: Richard W. Brown: Richard is 56 years old, married and the father of two, ages 29 and 25 and resides in Covington, Georgia. He began in the roof truss industry in 1972, and currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Wood Truss Council of America (our national association) as a Past President. James C. Finkenhoefer: Jim is 43 years old married and the father of two, ages 13 and 10, and resides in Snellville, Georgia. He began his career in the truss industry in 1976. He is a past president of the Georgia Component Manufactures Association (our state truss organization) and currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Wood Truss Council of America. Larry S. Stuckey: Larry is 51 years old, married and the father of two, ages 21 and 11, and resides in Madison Georgia. He began his career in the truss industry in 1977. ALL of the Principals are “hands-on” owners. |
